Welcome

Drayton Cottage is a private Health & Wellbeing Centre located in the beautiful village of Fenny Drayton near Nuneaton. We serve the local area of North Warwickshire, Leicestershire including, Nuneaton, Hinckley, Coventry, Tamworth,  Atherstone and  surrounding  areas.  We also serve clients across the country and internationally offering online  or telephone therapy.

I firmly believe that whilst  you may suffer with conditions such as depression or anxiety (or any other form of psychological  distress) the way you experience this is  unique and so are  your associated  problems.   It is normal for  all of us, including myself,  to suffer mood disturbance at some time or another, and when it carries on and starts to interfere with your enjoyment in life, it is normal to want to have some support to over come the distress.  Finding the right person who can  really get to understand your individual problems is a great starting point.  Finding someone who has a variety of methods of overcoming them is essential for success in overcoming them. The way you experience distress or difficulties are unique.   I don’t believe you have to have long term therapy to get long term effective solutions.

Highly Trained & Experienced

For over 25 years I have focussed on being the best therapist I can be, which means keeping up to date with my training. We call this continued professional development (CPD) and part of being a qualified and accredited practitioner means that we have to demonstrate we are updating our skills.   The industry standard is 5 days a year. I ensure that I attend in excess of  30 days a year.

Every practitioner is qualified in their own field of expertise and are members of an appropriate professional organisation that governs the conduct and ethical standards for the type of therapy or counselling they provide.    I am accredited with the BABCP, the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist and annually have to demonstrate I have had regular supervision and CPD to remain on the register.

My psychotherapy approach draws on the following:

CBT – Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
ACT -Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Humanistic Person Centred Counselling
EMDR – Eye Movement and Desensitisation Reprocessing – Trauma Therapy
Clinical Hypnotherapy

I am currently training as a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders with the National Eating Disorder Service.

An Integrated Approach to Better Mental health

My offer to you is an integrated approach to your wellbeing because I  believe the best approach to a stable emotionally healthy life is a  holistic approach, a balance between mental and physical wellbeing. Originally I trained with Warwick University to  Masters  degree level  (with distinction) and worked as an  approved mental health professional.  I have  worked within the NHS and local authority for over 22 years.

Along side this I trained in  various therapies to complement my work of helping people practically.   I focussed on   many  complimentary therapies that are designed to work in unison with your current treatment. I am a qualified  Yoga and Tai Chi teacher and have studied to practitioner level Reflexology, Reiki, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy and Body Massage. Whilst I don’t  offer body focussed approaches now due to my busy work schedule with psychotherapy, this training and experience has enabled me to see you as a “whole” person, and  recognise how the body holds emotions in the body which feels like tension, pain, and dis – ease and part of my session may be advising on various therapeutic approaches.  Certain conditions such as fibromyalgia and unexplained medical conditions for instance are likely to have a root with unresolved trauma and chronic stress.   I also have a network of other practitioners such as nutritionists and bodyworkers who I can refer to .
